What’s Expected of You

Use good sense and common courtesy (and have a sense of humor) at all times, and the Drive will be enjoyable for everyone!

Participants will be divided into Circles, and each Circle is expected to work together for the success of the Drive.

  • The Cow Boss, Wagon Master, Assistant Wagon Master, Circle Bosses, and their assistants will be in charge of the safety of all participants during the cattle drive.
  • A current negative Coggins must be presented for each horse/mule. Required by Florida State law and will be enforced. Out of State horses/mules must have a current health certificate.
  • No alcoholic beverages will be permitted on horseback. Please use discretion when consuming alcoholic beverages in your camp or in the common areas.  Any intoxicated person on the cattle drive will be dismissed and turned over to Law Enforcement personnel. 
  • The use of illegal drugs will not be tolerated. Any person under the influence of illegal drugs during the cattle drive will be dismissed and turned over to Law Enforcement personnel. 
  • Participants or animals may be removed by the decision of the Executive Committee, EMT, or Veterinarian. 
  • Please do not post photographs of alcohol consumption or poor behavior to social media. 
  • Registration forms and signed release forms are required for all participants. No one under 18 years of age is permitted on the cattle drive without a parent or legal guardian.
  • No more than 60 pounds of gear per person.  You are required to load your own gear on the trailers for transportation to the next camp. 
  • Every participant must display their Circle Bandana at all times. 
  • All participants must break camp on time and be prepared to move out with their Circle.  Breakfast will be served at 7 am.  Barring unforeseen circumstances, ride-out time for the Circles riding with the cattle is 8 am, and for the other Circles 8:30 am.  Supper will be served at 7 pm. 
  • Each Circle will have designated hours for riders to pick up feed and hay – pick up your allotment during those times.  Do not expect access to feed and hay outside of the designated times.
  • No riding out of camp unless authorized. No running horses in camp or near tied-up horses.
  • Limit the use of sunglasses or cell phones before noon. Allow photographers & videographers to perform during the morning with the best light possible. 
  • Obey the State of Florida Nicole’s Helmet law for minors. 
  • Cruelty or abuse of animals will not be tolerated. 
  • No firearms are allowed, except by duly authorized Law Enforcement personnel.
  • Camp areas must be left clean. No littering in camps or on the trails.  Do not drop or discard plastic water bottles except for in receptacles at camps.
  • Only one fire per circle – no individual fires. 
  • Cutting live trees, or damage to campsite areas, or to any property will not be tolerated.
  • Port-o-lets are provided for your comfort in camps and at the lunch break. No trash is to be dumped into the port-o-lets.
  • Absolutely no stallions or dogs allowed.
  • High-spirited, ill-tempered or untrained horses will not be allowed.
  • No riding double and no bareback riding or ponying horses. 
  • Vehicles will be driven on designated roadways when entering and/or leaving all properties. No ATVs or motor vehicles are allowed, except for Official Use. 
  • No bathing or soap of any kind in water troughs. 
  • No T-shirts, shorts, tank tops, tennis shoes, or baseball caps on the trail. Please wear period clothing or traditional western wear, as this is a historical re-enactment.   No brightly colored or animal print tack, please.
  • Use a red ribbon on the tail of a horse known to kick. If it bites place it on the forelock or bridle
